Jeep Wrangler J8 Military Version

Interesting bit of Jeep news, Jeep has created a military version of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited called the J8. Starting with the 2007 Wrangler Unlimited as a base platform, Jeep engineers reinforced the frame to allow greater loads, up to a new maximum of 1,339 Kilograms (2,950 lbs!). Axles, Brakes and Suspension were modified including utilizing leaf-spring suspension in the rear of the vehicle.

According to Jeep, while the J8 was not designed for front line combat it is fully armored and suitable for tasks such as command vehicle, troop/cargo carrier, ambulance, communications vehicle etc.

The Multipurpose Jeep J8 was unveiled at the 2007 Defense Systems and Equipment International military trade show.
